QR Codes extend a printed advertisement to the Internet. They’re the latest addition to the digital printing services available from CORE Communications.

What are QR Codes?

Quick Response (QR) codes are two-dimensional bar-codes that can store web addresses. When a QR code is scanned by a camera phone with the correct reader software, a browser window is launched and redirected to the address embedded in it.

1. Convenient

   QR codes use your camera phone to connect printed documents to the web. QR support is already native to phones running the Symbian and Android operating systems, and third-party applications support QR functionality on other smartphone brands.

2. Engaging

   Direct mail pieces and marketing material are limited to the paper they are printed upon. QR codes are the perfect way to offer more information or allow a reader to purchase a product online.

3. Personal

   Each QR code can be linked to a PURL – a personalized webpage individually designed for each of its readers. With the wave of a camera, a reader can gain access to special offers, feedback forms, or product information intended specifically for them.

Getting Started

If you’ve got a camera-equipped phone with access to the internet, you’re almost ready to start scanning QR Codes.

All you need is QR-Reading software. Beetagg and Scanlife are two popular readers that are supported on most smartphones, but a host of other readers are freely available as well.
